At first it threw me because it was packed in a taped up box that says screen protector. Almost sent it back thinking it was a mistake -but go ahead and open it - the screen is inside, not a protector. There were faint marks on the back mirroring the connector clamp screw heads, which made me suspect this had been in place on a phone before, however this could just be an artifact from the testing process because there is not a single wear mark on the screen indicating it had been installed before. I think it is new. Remember to take the little piece of tape that is your speaker cover from the back of your old screen and put it on the new one. It does not come with that for some reason. Get some tweezers for this as it is very small. The screen fits perfectly and works well! Be very careful with these screens until they are installed. They are so thin that the slightest bump will shatter it. You can practice handling with your old screen before handling the new one to see how easy it is to break. Remember to press the connector first at one side, and when you feel it sink in, then the other side, NOT in the middle, or risk bending the tabs. Also do not bend the cables around. A lot can go wrong here. keep it pretty flat against the phone when you are working, don't fold it back like some videos show. That is a bad idea and unnecessary. I had changed the battery and cooked my old screen with the heat gun, so had to reassemble it before adding the new screen. In my case I had a bit of the plastic inside that I had reassembled that was not snapped completely down into place. I did not notice it at first. Make sure you take a good look around the whole perimeter of the phone before you glue the screen down to make sure it is completely flat and snapped down into place. In addition, make sure you test the screen for image and touch before you glue it. For clamping after gluing i turned another similar sized phone (an old nexus 5 is perfect) glass face down on top and then set some books on top. that gives you perfectly flat against what you want to be perfectly flat. Mine works great. Will update if I have any problems.
